Chicagos Top-Ranked College Bowl Team to ChallengeMidwests Best at Regional College Bowl TournamentThe University of Chicagos top-ranked College Bowl teamfresh from its victory over Harvard at the National Academic Quiz Tournamentwill begin its quest this weekend to win the national College Bowl championship. In a no-holds-barred display of brain power, more than 16 teamsnearly 100 studentsfrom the Chicago area, Wisconsin and northern Michigan will compete in the College Bowl Regional Championship Tournament Friday, Feb. 14, through Saturday, Feb. 1. The event, one of 15 regional U.S. tournaments taking place during the weekend, will be held at the Norris Center of Northwestern University, 1999 Campus Drive, Evanston, Ill. The winners will be announced by 6:00 p.m., Saturday Feb.1 Chicago is one of the favorites to win this years College Bowl National Championship Tournament,to be held from April 18 through April 20 at Montclair State University in Upper Montclair, N.J. The tournament will feature the 15 regional champions plus a 16th wild-card team. Chicago recently beat Harvard in overtime at the most prestigious U.S. competition next to the College Bowl, the National Academic Quiz Tournament (NAQT). Chicago topped 63 of the best teams from North America and Europe at the NAQT invitational in January. College Bowl is a game of academic knowledge and quick recall. Competition is organized into a year-round program of campus, regional and national tournaments.
