Hans Blix to discuss disarmament at Ida Noyes Hall, Thursday, March 8

WHAT: "Time for a Revival of Disarmament?", a talk by Dr. Hans Blix.

WHO: Dr. Hans Blix, Chairman, Weapons of Mass Destruction Commission (WMDC); Director General Emeritus, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Prior to his current position, Dr. Blix was appointed Executive Chairman of the United Nations Monitoring, Verification, and Inspection Commission for Iraq. During the Iraq disarmament crisis, before the 2003 invasion, Dr. Blix's statements about the Iraq WMD program contradicted the claims of the Bush administration. His book, Disarming Iraq, was published in March 2004.

Dr. Blix has held several appointments in the Swedish government including Advisor on International Law, Under-Secretary of State, and Minister for Foreign Affairs.
