Milton Friedman Day commemorated with memorial service, PBS documentary

A memorial service for Milton Friedman was held at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel on Monday, Jan. 29, a day declared "Milton Friedman Day" in the city of Chicago and California. The service took place at 2 p.m. CST and was webcast live on

Speakers at the event included Gary Becker, University Professor in Economics at the University of Chicago; Arnold Harberger, Professor in Economics at UCLA and the Gustavus F. and Ann M. Swift Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus in Economics at the University of Chicago; Václav Klaus, President of the Czech Republic; Leo Melamed, Chairman Emeritus of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange; Michael Walker, Senior Fellow and President of the Fraser Institute Foundation, and a member of the board of directors of the Milton and Rose D. Friedman Foundation; and Robert Zimmer, President of the University of Chicago.
