University of Chicago and Hyde Park arts communities host annual festival

On Saturday and Sunday, June 4 and 5, one of the city’s most historically rich and culturally diverse neighborhoods will celebrate its wide-range of cultural offerings. Scheduled to coincide with the 57th Street Art Fair, the oldest juried art fair in the Midwest, the fourth annual Hyde Park Arts Fest will offer a variety of arts activities, from live music and dance to poetry readings and access to some of Chicago’s museums. As on all weekends, parking is free of charge at all University of Chicago parking lots, including the parking structure on the southeast corner of 55th Street and Ellis Avenue.

Participating arts organizations include the Chicago Storytellers Guild, the Hyde Park-Kenwood Interfaith Council, McCormick Theological Seminary, the Lutheran School of Theology and the University of Chicago’s Department of Music, Oriental Institute Museum, Renaissance Society and Rockefeller Memorial Chapel.

The Hyde Park Arts Fest will have activities for people of all ages and interests, and all events are free. The schedule is as follows:
