Al-Jazeera’s Washington Bureau Chief to speak at University of Chicago

What/Who: Hafez Al-Mirazi, the Washington bureau chief for Al-Jazeera television, will speak on “Reflecting or Shaping Perceptions in the Arab World?”

When: Monday, Jan. 24 at 6 p.m.

Where: International House Assembly Hall, University of Chicago, 1414 E. 59th St.

Background: Before Al-Mirazi became the head of Al-Jazeera’s newest bureau, he was the Washington correspondent for BBC Arabic/World Service and a talk show host for the Arab News Network and Arab Network of America. He also has been an editor, writer and broadcaster for Voice of America. Al-Mirazi started his career as a radio journalist for Voice of the Arabs (Sawot Al-Arab) on Cairo Radio in Egypt.

The Middle Eastern Studies Student Association and the International House Global Voices Program are sponsoring his visit to the University of Chicago.
