Tomorrow, the University of Chicago’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies and International House Global Voices Program presents a conference on “Building American Friendship With the Islamic World,” Wednesday, December 3, 2003, 1 p.m. -5 p.m. in the Home Room of International House. Speakers include the University of Chicago’s John Woods and Holly Shissler and topics include “Islam’s attitude toward the West:  What do they want?” “America and Europe as models for Islamic democracy” and “The West's attempts to modernize the Islamic world:  A historical retrospective.”

The conference will be held at the International House of the University of Chicago, 1414 E. 59th Street, Chicago, IL  60637. The event is free and the public and press are invited. For more information please contact Denise Jorgens at (773) 843-2275.
