Can the US be a Model for Islamic Democracy?
Tomorrow, the University of Chicago’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies and International House Global Voices Program presents a conference on “Building American Friendship With the Islamic World,” Wednesday, December 3, 2003, 1 p.m. -5 p.m. in the Home Room of International House. Speakers include the University of Chicago’s John Woods and Holly Shissler and topics include “Islam’s attitude toward the West: What do they want?” “America and Europe as models for Islamic democracy” and “The West's attempts to modernize the Islamic world: A historical retrospective.” The conference will be held at the International House of the University of Chicago, 1414 E. 59th Street, Chicago, IL 60637.
