Media Advisory: University of Chicago Hosts International Forum on Colombian Civil War
| WHAT: | A one-day conference, “Colombia: Confronting Conflict, Striving Towards Peace,” will bring together some of the world's leading voices on the Colombian civil war. More than 20 speakers will discuss ways to resolve a war that annually claims 3,500 lives. |
| WHO: | Panelists include leading policy-makers, academic researchers, peace activists, and diplomats.
Anne Patterson, the United States Ambassador to Colombia.
Horacio Serpa, former Colombian presidential candidate, and the current Colombian Ambassador to the Organization of American States.
Rafael Pardo-Rueda, a Senator of Colombia and one of the country's most influential politicians.
Cuauhtemoc Cardenas, former Mayor of Mexico City, and currently director of Fundacion para la Democracia.
Ray Suarez, senior correspondent for the NewsHour, and former host of National Public Radio's Talk of the Nation.
