Spanish Chant and Polyphony
Rockefeller Memorial Chapel, 3 pm El Coro de Canto Gregoriano, directed by Ismael Fernandez de la Cuesta (formerly of Santo Domingo de Silos, the Benedictine Order which produced the cds Chant and Chant II). The Choir will perform the Gregorian chant of the Mass, while the polyphonic portions of this 16th century Mass by Tomas Luis de Victoria will be sung by the University's Motet Choir, under the direction of Randi Von Ellefson. Organist Thomas Weisflog will play appropriate instrumental interludes. The concert will be at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel on The University of Chicago campus, 5850 S. Woodlawn, Chicago. The doors open at 2 p.m. for open seating and there should be ample street parking. The Chapel is handicap accessible.
