Alma mater names center after retired ConAgra Foods chairman
The University of Chicago Graduate School of business has named a building for retired ConAgra Foods chairman Charles M. Harper.
The business school building on the campus in the Hyde Park area was named the Charles M. Harper Center in recognition of his donation of one of the largest gifts in the school's history. The school made the announcement Friday.
Harper, who received his MBA from the University of Chicago in 1950, asked that the amount of the donation not be disclosed. Previous gifts to the school by others have topped $20 million.
The Harper Center, previously known as the Hyde Park Center, was completed in September 2004. The 415,000square-foot building was built at a cost of $125 million.
