CHICAGO --
Two University of Chicago students, Anyu Fang and Kristin Greer Love, have been named Truman scholars, university officials said Thursday.
The two were among 75 college students nationwide chosen this year to receive the $30,000 award, established by Congress in 1975 as the official federal memorial to Harry Truman, the 33rd U.S. president.
Fang, 21, an economics major who was born in China, plans to use the award to study human rights law. He has interned in Amnesty International's legislative office in Washington, D.C.
Love, 21, from Bloomington, Ill., is majoring in history and in law, letters and society. She plans to use her award to pursue a career in children's rights law.
