Two University of Chicago students named Rhodes ScholarsNovember 21, 2004 Two students from the University of Chicago were named today as Rhodes Scholars for 2005.Ian Desai graduated this year with a bachelor's degree in Ancient Studies. He received a university prize for his collection of poetry, and was elected a student marshal. The 22-year-old is a New York City native. Andrew Kim is a first-generation Korean-American from Marlton, New Jersey. He graduated in June with a political science degree. He hopes to eventually work for the government or a nonprofit, focusing on refugee issues. Thirty-two American college students were selected for the scholarships, which provide two or three years of study at Oxford University in England.
